Job Summary
A Heavy Equipment Mechanic assists with and performs the hands‑on aspect of preventative maintenance and repairs of gas and diesel engines. The position requires working knowledge of the heavy equipment used in the industry and the ability to repair a wide range of equipment such as bulldozers, motor graders, front‑end loaders, backhoes, paving machines, rollers, broom tractors, transfer vehicles, track hoes, off‑road dump trucks, and other vehicles as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain records of service and repair work on all trucks and equipment.
Perform unexpected mechanical tasks to minimize business disruption.
Order and maintain inventory of repair parts and tools.
Identify and resolve mechanical failures, communication breakdowns, parts availability, and safety concerns.
Assist with facility and grounds maintenance when needed and balance multiple priorities.
Travel to job sites for repairs and inspections, and perform any other duty as required.
Essential Skills and Abilities
Dependable and supportive of company operations by maintaining the truck and equipment fleet.
Above average knowledge of vehicle and equipment mechanics.
Perform routine maintenance and ensure necessary repairs are completed.
Proactively identify and remove potential hazards.
