Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical systems.
Perform routine preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and other diesel-powered machinery.
Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot engine and system issues.
Repair or replace defective parts, including engines, turbochargers, fuel injectors, pumps, and wiring.
Conduct safety checks and ensure equipment complies with DOT and OSHA standards.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance performed.
Keep shop area organized, clean, and compliant with safety regulations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; technical school or certification in diesel technology preferred.
Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or in a related mechanical role.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and repair tools.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders.
Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in various environments (indoor/outdoor).
