Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) – DoD SkillBridge
Northrop Grumman, a leader in advanced defense technology, offers a SkillBridge internship for transitioning service members. Participants will receive on‑site, 40‑hr per week training to gain experience in a role that could lead to a full‑time opportunity with Northrop Grumman. The internship lasts up to 180 days and is open to all ranks and experience levels. Compensation is not provided as interns continue to receive military pay and benefits.

Honorable discharge
TAPS/TGPS participation
Recent ethics brief (within 12 months)Unit Commander written authorization to participate
Responsibilities The internship is designed to provide transitioning service members with job‑skills training, professional development, and networking that align with Northrop Grumman’s mission to “Defining Possible.” Interns will:
Perform on‑site, job‑training in an entry‑to‑mid‑level role.
Contribute to development projects following standard engineering practices.
Engage with leadership and peers to gain exposure to the company’s culture and business.
Advance toward a potential full‑time position upon completion.
Embedded Software Engineer – Staff Engineer (Advanced Weapons) Location: Northridge, CA. To join a multi‑discipline engineering team that designs next‑generation missile weapon systems. The candidate will be on‑site full time and will support architecture and integration of secure missile weapons.
Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and implement software for embedded devices and systems based on requirements.
Design, develop, test, and debug system software.
Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle in an agile environment.
Verify and validate software requirements.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 12 years of software or computer engineering experience, or Master’s degree with 10 years of experience.
Self‑starter who operates efficiently in a team environment.
Proficiency in C/C++, Java, Python, or C#.
Full software life‑cycle experience: specification, design, implementation, integration, debugging, and maintenance.
Experience in embedded software development.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
Minimum one year of experience in an agile team.
Meets DoD SkillBridge qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Git and other version control tools.
Embedded systems design in preemptive, multitasking real‑time operating systems.
Embedded C++ optimization and use of VxWorks.
Hands‑on hardware integration and testing.
Debugging complex integrated applications or test set‑up issues.
Experience with Atlassian tools: JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, SonarQube.
Active Secret clearance.
Benefits and Compensation Salary range: $171,000.00 – $256,400.00. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives for senior roles.
