Polymer Center Maintenance Supervisor Republic Services

Position Summary The Polymer Center Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising a maintenance shop that reports to an on‑site Division or Operations Manager. The supervisor oversees a mechanical and electrical technician team that performs preventive and corrective maintenance on fixed and mobile manufacturing equipment, as well as building and facility maintenance. Work is scheduled to ensure safety, timeliness and minimal lost productivity.

Responsibilities

Supervise and direct mechanical and electrical technicians, conducting daily debrief meetings and coaching on performance and corrective action.

Make hiring, termination, training, performance evaluation, merit increase, promotion and job change decisions in concert with Human Resources and management.

Perform quality control inspections, track issue resolution and verify compliance with company safety procedures and federal and state regulations.

Oversee the maintenance shop inventory control system, ensuring necessary equipment and parts levels are maintained and purchases stay within budget.

Review and approve expenses within the approval level; refer larger expenses or major repairs to the manager.

Conduct repair diagnostics on complex matters and provide coaching as needed.

Maintain advanced knowledge of all Polymer Center devices, including conveyors, screens, reducers, balers, optical sorting units, air drum separators, and others in the mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Manage routine external service/maintenance providers and contracts for equipment such as air compressors, boilers, dust collectors, facility services, and select OEM equipment.

Partner with the Operations Support team to implement and execute company‑wide maintenance systems and processes (e.g., CMMS).

Perform other job‑related duties as assigned or apparent.

Preferred Qualifications

Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in recycling, manufacturing or a related industry.

Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience in a lead technician role, supervisor or other management role requiring thorough knowledge of safe working practices, OSHA and other federal and state regulations.
