Mechanical Technician – Maintenance Team Lead
Location: St. Johns, MI (MWC facility) – part of the joint venture between Glanbia Nutritionals, Dairy Farmers of America, and Select Milk Producers Inc.
Job Summary Install, diagnose, and repair industrial equipment. Monitor equipment and process functions to ensure they operate at designed efficiencies.
Essential Functions
Responsible for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
Assist operators and maintenance employees in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
Assist in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
Repair and maintain machinery such as pneumatic tools, motors, conveyor systems, and production machines using testing instruments, hand and power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
Work on chemical pumps, valves, and plumbing in CIP kitchens.
Dismantle devices to remove defective parts.
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on equipment.
Analyze equipment failures, determine causes, and make necessary adjustments.
Repair, maintain, replace, install, and test electrical components such as relays, switches, motors, and place sensing devices.
Replace motor bearings, rewire motors; diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss the malfunction with other maintenance workers to diagnose the issue.
Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and replace damaged or broken wires and cables using electrical hand tools and voltage/ampere measuring devices.
Test electrical components.
Utilize GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholding the culture of Glanbia non‑negotiables.
Comply with occupational safety and health standards and all applicable regulations.
Comply with all applicable food safety regulations (Safe Quality Foods, FDA, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance).

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of 1 year electrical or mechanical maintenance experience preferred.
Desire to grow with the company.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure.
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Ability to solve practical problems in varied situations with limited standardization.
Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and delegate assignments.
Proficient personal computer skills (email, record keeping, database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics).
Compliance with all safety policies and procedures. Report unsafe activities to supervisor or HR.
Provide leadership through example and sharing of knowledge & skills.
