Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position performs entry-level building maintenance and construction work and assists with the operation and maintenance of Garner State Park. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance (inspecting/cleaning) of cabins, restrooms and other facilities; sweeping, mopping, dusting, painting, cleaning restrooms and assisting customers. Cleans, maintains and repairs park facilities, buildings, equipment, vehicles and grounds. Operates equipment such as mowers, trimmers, power tools, tractors and other equipment as needed. Provides visitor information concerning park rules and regulations. Works under close supervision with minimal latitude for independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned and complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures. Note: Position may fluctuate between full-time/part-time hours based on operational needs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education : Completion of 8th Grade. Experience : Experience in general ground, facilities or equipment maintenance. Licensure : Must possess a valid State driver’s license. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education : Graduation from High School or GED. Experience : Experience working with the public. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of general facility, building and grounds repair and cleaning techniques. Knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance techniques. Knowledge of general custodial duties. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Skill in effective verbal and written communication. Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner. Skill in making independent, sound and timely decisions. Ability to safely and effectively operate hand and power tools and mechanical equipment. Ability to prepare reports and forms. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision. Ability to perform manual labor including lifting up to 50 lbs. Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program. WORKING CONDITIONS

Required to work 10-40 hours per week with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Hours may be reduced or extended as needed. This position will fluctuate between part-time and full-time status. Changing from part-time to full-time and vice versa may impact leave accrual, longevity pay, and health insurance rates. Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. May be required to operate State vehicle. Travel up to 5% with possible overnight stays.
