Position Overview
Patient Care and Prevention Facilities (PC&PF) is fundamental to the daily operations of MD Anderson Cancer Center. This department ensures all of the hospital’s facilities are safe, operational, and compliant with accreditation standards. PC&PF cultivates the skills needed to oversee vital maintenance operations and plays a longitudinal role in overseeing construction and modernization of existing buildings through new software and monitoring initiatives.
Responsibilities
Repair and maintain electrical equipment, respond to customer calls, and provide support for emergencies.
Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment in the facility.
Maintain an O&M inventory and respond efficiently to work orders.
Perform preventive maintenance on all electrical panels, transformers, and other electrical systems.
Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical equipment.
Provide back‑up support for other crafts and coordinate workflow of technicians and mechanics.
Participate in walk‑through inspections of construction projects and create punch lists for discrepancies.
Maintain critical alarm systems and respond to all critical equipment alarms.
Interpret and work from instructions, blueprints, sketches, and diagrams in the installation of electrical systems.
Investigate outages and report and document corrective action, labor hours, and materials used on work orders.
Provide complete information for accurate documentation and timely communication to supervisors of any issues encountered.
Perform emergency responses for facilities including code red alarms and any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Required: 1 year post‑journeyman experience in commercial/industrial electrical work involving interior and exterior wiring and the repair of electrical equipment and systems.
Required: Journeyman Electrician License (Texas) or Master Electrician License (Texas).
Preferred: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship.
Preferred: Texas Driver’s License, Class A, B, or C, with eligibility to drive state and institutional vehicles.
