Opportunity Under general supervision and applying knowledge gained with experience, you will begin functioning as a technical specialist. You will continue to build on experience and gain more in‑depth knowledge working on larger and more complex assignments. You may start to expand knowledge into other disciplines and/or functional areas.
The Team As part of BV Operations, your skills will be aligned to projects that support our three market sectors—Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial. In roles such as Engineers, Technicians, and Skilled Specialists you will be engaged with exciting projects across the globe, from small community improvements to grand‑scale mega projects, building a world of difference while focusing on your own professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Execute structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, industrial facilities, and other complex structural facilities.
Work within a team of Structural Engineers (both in the US and in overseas offices) to execute projects.
Supervise Structural Technicians in preparation of structural drawings and specifications.
Perform construction phase engineering duties such as site visits, responding to RFIs, and review of contractor submittals.
Perform project administrative tasks, which may include monitoring progress against budget and schedule, managing project changes, and implementing Black & Veatch Quality Control requirements.
Coordinate work with architects and other discipline engineers.
Understand and follow departmental standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
Support continuous improvement efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with non‑structural software packages such as Bluebeam, ProjectWise, AutoCAD, and Revit.
Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program in the U.S. or the country of practice. Minimum of 1 year related work experience.
Work Environment / Physical Demands Black & Veatch offers hybrid or flexible work options after the first 90 days, based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
