Role description
Arcadis is seeking a GIS Specialist to provide analytical and consulting support for U.S. State Departments of Transportation. The role focuses on cartography and mapping, data management and maintenance, and design and implementation of enterprise Geographic Information Systems (GIS) using Esri-based software to support Esri Roads and Highways, ArcGIS Enterprise platforms, business systems integration, and visualisation tools. Role accountabilities
The candidate will: Maintain line and point event data with advanced linear referencing systems and analyse datasets within an LRS network (centerlines, routes, calibration points). Perform mapping, cartography, and visualisation of GIS datasets using Esri technologies. Maintain data required for Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) and Certified Public Mileage (CPM) reports. Identify and design business processes for the Workflow Manager (WMX), develop Data Reviewer checks to validate data conversion and creation processes, and manage GIS data with editing and quality‑assurance best practices. Use Event Editor (EE) sites on ArcGIS Server to maintain GIS data and parse REST service calls to interrogate enterprise database systems. Design and develop geoprocessing models using Model Builder and Python, and work with FME to translate geospatial data. Collaborate both independently and within a team to complete assigned tasks. Work location is flexible. A valid driver’s licence and clean driving record are required for this position. Qualifications & Experience
Required qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Information Technology, or Computer Science. Preferred qualifications Experience with Esri ArcGIS Pro products (Pro, Experience Builder, Field Maps, Portal, Survey123, etc.). Experience with Esri Roads & Highways applications and enterprise database management. Knowledge of linear referencing concepts. Familiarity with enterprise database environments, including versioning concepts. Demonstrated analytical problem‑solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for complex reports and presentations. Experience with asset management software and concepts. Experience with advanced analytics and data visualisation techniques. A valid driver’s licence and clean driving record are required for this position. Benefits
