CNC Machinist
working the 2nd or 3rd shift. You will receive a $1,000 employment bonus for successful hiring.
Shift differential of $1.50/hr for 2nd and 3rd shift. Voluntary overtime available through Union Shop (USW).
Ongoing R&D: roles available running brand‑new Mazak machines (Integrex i450 and i250 series), new Okumas, and a newer Kitamura Bridge Mill.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC turning centers from tape, disc, or direct input programs, performing turning, drilling, boring, grooving, milling, tapping, facing, tapering, cutoff and deburring in conjunction with live tooling.
Receive instructions, print requirements, shop orders, set‑up info and route cards from Foreman, Programmer, Floor Inspector and Instructor.
Read and interpret prints and set‑up information to determine tool and set‑up requirements; verify material and pattern number before machining.
Set up CNC turning equipment for various operations using multiple axes and tools, repeating cycle with turret lathe as needed.
Procure jigs, fixtures and machine attachments for each job; make pot chucks and/or soft‑jaw bores for holding semi-finished pieces.
Load and unload machines manually or with a hoist.
Operate CNC turning center and control program offsets to turn, bore, mill, face, drill, tap, ream castings, forgings, weldments and bar stock to tolerances of .0002”.
Resharpen and grind tools as required.
Notify Foreman, Programmer, Floor Inspector or Instructor of any abnormal material condition, cutting‑tool misuse, or equipment malfunction.
Disassemble, clean and lubricate chucks and machines per schedule.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Requirements
Interpret drawings and set up CNC turning centers for precision machining.
Problem‑solve moderate complexity and make judgement on tools and equipment.
Use various tools and gauges to set up and operate CNC turning centers for operations involving tight tolerances.
Good attention to detail to avoid damage to cutting tools, gauges and machine.
Ability to handle tools and operate machine controls; light physical exertion.
Working Hours 2nd shift: 3:30 pm – 12:00 am 3rd shift: 10:30 pm – 7:00 am Voluntary overtime available.
