Our client in the Glendale, CA area is looking for a **Catia Design Engineer**. This is a long-term contract position.

We are seeking a highly skilled CATIA V5 Design Engineer with a strong background in 3D modeling and engineering drawings for aerospace systems. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with CATIA V5 (R21–R32) and a proven track record in producing detailed designs for complex components such as pneumatic ducting, fuel and oil lines, and structural bracketry.

Key Responsibilities

Create high-quality 3D CAD models, annotated models, and 2D engineering drawings using CATIA V5 (versions R21–R32).

Design components including aerospace pneumatic ducting, fuel and oil lines, and bracketry, adhering to industry and company standards.

Perform design checking to ensure accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with specifications.

Collaborate closely with project engineers and manufacturing teams to integrate design requirements and resolve issues.

Manage and organize CAD data and documentation for project deliverables.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of direct experience using CATIA V5 (10+ years preferred).

Strong expertise in 3D modeling, assembly layout, and 2D drafting.

Deep understanding of engineering tolerances, materials, and manufacturing processes.

Ability to perform design checks and coordinate with cross‑functional engineering teams.

Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.

100% onsite.

Preferred Industry Background

Aerospace industry experience is highly preferred.

Automotive industry experience is considered the next best alternative.

Software Requirement CATIA V5 (Versions R21 to R32) – This is the primary and only accepted CAD software for this role.

Creates complex and simple detail, sub‑assembly, and top assembly drawings.

Writes engineering orders and makes changes to existing drawings.

Creates assemblies and drawings for test procedures.

Knowledgeable in ACS (aircraft coordinate systems) and can design components using ACS or local coordinates.

Knowledge of Catia FTA workbench and MBD (Model Based Definition) and its applications in the aerospace engineering environment and documentation.

Performs weight calculations (hand or Catia V5).

Performs design checks of models and drawings created by other drafters.

Strong understanding of GD&T practices per ASME and ANSI standards.

Manufacturing knowledge in the machining of metallic components and sheet metal forming.

Creates tooling models and drawings.

Aids the shop, customers and vendors in reading and interpreting company and customer drawings to facilitate manufacturing.

Develop assembly BOMs.

Experience with PLM software (Enovia) and configuration management practices (preferred).

Performs tolerance stack‑ups and interference checks as needed (preferred).

Hourly rate: $45‑$50/hr.
