Overview
Stocks General Contractors LLC is seeking a skilled Pipelayer to join our Field Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the assembly, installation, and repair of underground pipe systems including water, sewer, storm drain, electrical, and communications. You will work with various materials such as PVC, ductile iron, steel, and concrete pipes. The ideal candidate will have experience in pipe laying and underground utility construction and will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork. Prepare trenches and grade areas where pipes will be laid. Assist equipment operators with the placement of pipes and provide direction using hand signals. Perform laboring tasks such as backfilling around pipes with hand tools. Operate pipe lasers, transits, and other tools for precise alignment and grading. Locate and mark correct positions for pipe placement in trenches. Assemble and install pipes, valves, and fittings made from various materials including metal, PVC, ductile iron, and concrete. Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, and plastic solvent cement. Conduct leak testing and inspect pipes to ensure proper installation. Work across Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia job sites as needed. Qualifications
Ability to listen to and follow directions. Flexibility and adaptability to changing job assignments. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Basic arithmetic skills for inventory and material measurements. Education and Experience
2-5 years of experience installing small- and large-diameter pipe systems (water, sewer, storm drain, electrical, and communications). High school diploma or GED (preferred). Licenses/Certifications
Confined Space Training Certification (required). Trenching/Excavation Awareness Training (required). Rigging and Signaling Certification (preferred). OSHA 10/30-Hour Certification (required). REAL ID desired or eligible to apply for one Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs, push/pull loads of 50 lbs. Ability to stand and walk for up to 8-10 hours per day. Ability to climb stairs while carrying materials (40-60 lbs). Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Benefits
