We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with a strong focus on continuous improvement to join our growing team in Kalamazoo, MI. Our ideal candidate combines technical expertise with a passion for driving efficiency, reducing waste, and fostering a culture of operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Support manufacturing objectives: develop, implement, and maintain area/product-specific work instructions, time studies, PFMEAs, preventative maintenance, and other related standard work and lean production tools.
Manage capital projects to improve production processes, equipment, and tooling.
Conduct area capacity analysis and ensure all implemented processes and equipment support optimal cost, quality, and safety.
Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing team members designers, suppliers, tool builders, and associates to support new product launches through the PDL system, and to support Applications requests.
Prepare cost justification, quotes and proposals for new products, new equipment, and capital projects.
Write and maintain product‑specific CAM programs for area equipment.
Document best‑practices and maintain an organized program database.
Create controlled documents for program‑specific operator visuals and instructions as needed.
Provide program time estimates and project quoting assistance for Studio 431 and Applications work.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent skill level.
Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks CAD software.
Experience in metal fabrication, cellular manufacturing, and basic knowledge of the properties of materials used in site furniture such as steel, concrete, aluminum, wood, and plastics.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Knowledgeable in the use of common quality system tools such as PFMEA, Gage R&R, capability studies, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, standard deviation, and the use of a CMM.
History of achievement with an emphasis service and problem‑solving.
Track record of success developing manufacturing tooling and designing lean manufacturing processes.
