Role Overview PEG is seeking motivated individuals who demonstrate a commitment to energy efficiency, sustainability and building energy performance in new residential construction.

The position requires certification as a HERS Rater (achievable through paid on‑the‑job training).

Location: a 100‑mile radius centered on Waynesboro, VA.

Essential Functions

Perform home energy audits in accordance with RESNET and Energy Star guidelines, including visual inspection of materials and building components.

Operate blower door and duct leakage testing equipment using state‑of‑the‑art technology to assess building performance.

Build and maintain professional relationships with builders and code officials.

Education and Experience

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent vocational certificate in the skilled trades.

HERS rater, Energy Star, green building, ACCA 310 HVAC grading, IECC, HVAC EPA, BPI, or LEED certifications are a plus.

Two years of experience in HVAC, home remodeling, or construction is helpful.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, carry equipment, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and use testing tools.

Comfortable working outdoors.

Additional Requirements

Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, reliable transportation, and ability to travel daily to job sites.

Dependable, self‑directed, capable of completing projects with limited supervision.

Willingness to undergo a background check in accordance with local law.
