Base pay range $117,000.00/yr – $199,300.00/yr

Team Overview Do you have strong technical aptitude with a desire to be part of financial planning? If so, this could be the right opportunity for you! Financial Planning Tools & Capabilities lead the development of financial advice and planning capabilities integrated with the firm’s Advice & Guidance. The team partners with stakeholders to align and execute these strategies and capabilities to empower branch teams to confidently deliver premium client experiences. In addition, the group drives innovations that will enhance products, services, processes, and systems to meet our current and future client needs. These areas play a pivotal role in supporting the firm’s goals of deeply serving clients and associates serve as the firm’s subject‑matter experts for their respective areas.
What You Will Do The Advising Specialist II serves as a technical and practical subject‑matter expert for the Financial Planning and Advice & Guidance (A&G) area. Much of this work requires a broad and deep understanding of the firm’s A&G, systems and tools, financial planning principles, and the branch and client experience – in order to represent the integrity of A&G throughout the firm. This role requires informal people leadership through large firm initiatives and formal thought leadership.
Responsibilities Include
Collaborate with key stakeholders as the Financial Planning capability and A&G SME throughout the life cycle of projects, including planning, design and implementation for intermediate‑level projects.
Serve as an SME for key stakeholders (Training, Service, Enablement) and branch teams to ensure the application of Financial Planning capabilities and integrity of the A&G is upheld through application and messaging.
Document business requirements and partner with digital teams on execution, including refinement, user‑platform validation, user‑acceptance testing, and occasional implementation night testing.
Work in partnership with other firm areas (Service, Field Supervision, Compliance, Legal, Operations) to solve issues that arise regarding application of financial planning and firm A&G in our systems and tools.
For financial planning and A&G topics, production issues and/or branch team escalations, coordinate needed expertise from other A&G units for intermediate‑level issues.
Monitor industry trends, competitors and regulatory changes. Assess how those trends impact our business, messaging and the application of our A&G.
Achieve results with and through others, within and across multiple teams.

Skills / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
3+ years of relevant financial services experience
Series 7/66 required within 6 months of hire, consistent with department policy
CFP strongly preferred or start within 6 months of hire
Deep SME in at least one of the following and/or broad exposure and understanding of all the following: foundational knowledge of investments, financial planning, financial planning topical area, financial planning tools
Intermediate skills in some of the following areas: systems thinking, planning and organizing, relationship building, collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, project management, verbal and written communication
Knowledge of the following: firm Advice & Guidance, firm systems and tools, investment products, portfolio construction, or one of the financial planning concepts
What Could Set You Apart
CFP, CFA, CPA, law degree or other relevant designation
Advanced knowledge of Edward Jones client and branch team tools, including Financial Foundation, Portfolio, Proposal Tool, JonesLink and other related tools
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
