Our Financial Services EY EDGE practice is made up of a team of professionals providing dedicated tax technical services to both US and global clients. EDGE stands for Exceptional Delivery and Growth Engine because this team operates in a technical environment with deep process and service delivery experience that distinguishes EY in the marketplace.

EY’s FSO EDGE State and Local Tax practice provides comprehensive and specialized tax assistance tailored to the unique needs of our clients. You will work alongside our practice office professionals who are knowledgeable and experienced in a wide range of tax areas, processes, and compliance.

Your Key Responsibilities

Deliver tax compliance and consulting work for clients, recognizing and addressing problem areas to ensure needs are met timely and accurately.

Analyze an evolving portfolio of complex tax operations to provide meaningful business insights.

Identify potential opportunities and risks and communicate these to our clients.

Research current market trends to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor.

Develop clear, intelligent plans and approaches to improve our clients’ tax activities.

Build long‑lasting relationships tailored to clients’ specific needs.

Work with a motivated team of professionals.

Maintain reputation in the field by continuously updating and sharing technical knowledge.

Skills and Attributes for Success To qualify for the role, you must have

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline, or a graduate degree in Tax or Law.

Progress towards CPA or Enrolled Agent license.

A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in professional services or professional tax organization.

A thorough understanding of automated tax processing systems and laws within your area of technical professionalism.

Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and confidence to challenge senior colleagues and stakeholders.

A commitment to continuing your learning.

Ideally, you will also have

A thorough understanding of state and local partnership tax.

Proficiency in Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Experience with Return Preparation Software.

Experience working in a variety of teams.

Adaptability to work with both internal and client team members.

What We Look For We’re interested in people with initiative who are not afraid to speak up, with a genuine desire to service clients in the financial services industry focused on state and local taxes.

What We Offer You

A comprehensive compensation and benefits package. Base salary range for all US locations: $81,900 to $135,100. Higher ranges for New York City, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento): $98,400 to $153,600. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.

Hybrid model: most people in external, client‑serving roles work together in person 40‑60% of the time.
