MAREK
Position: Estimator – responsible for selling, estimating, pricing, and closing commercial construction project deals. The Estimator completes detailed tasks, assists with developing competitive cost estimates, performs quantity take-offs and pricing of interior construction, and builds and maintains customer relationships to secure profitable work.
Cost Estimating
Accurately details proposals and assesses all factors of MAREK’s project scope which may affect cost, including probable scope that may have been left out or is unspecified.
Obtain current construction documents for projects related to MAREK’s scope of work for pricing accordingly.
Prepare shop drawings, product submittals and other project related information for distribution to project team.
Review plans, drawings, specifications, schedule, and may visit construction site to note geographic features, site access, logistics for material staging, etc.
Breaks down all expenses (labor, materials, equipment, other resources), factors in the schedule, risks or constraints, customer and supplier relationships, market pricing, other bidders, and plans the project budget.
Analyze historical costs and evaluate effectiveness of current pricing information; consult with team members when discrepancies are found in cost data.
Coordinate project field measurements and product orders in a timely manner in line with MAREK standard operating procedures for collaboration between team members.
Sales / Marketing
Develop and maintain ongoing branch communications.
Initiate, build, and maintain new branch relationships.
Develop and maintain a sense of reliability of your work with others.
Support corporate goal “Customer is Number One.”
Possess the skills necessary to offer Value Engineering concepts.
Secure and understand post-bid information.
Be available for pre and post-bid support by whatever means necessary.
Follow up on pending bid projects.
Keep track of future work and can develop long‑term strategies for improving MAREK’s odds of securing it.
Initiate and maintain workload, as necessary.
Stay in touch with market trends.
Job Qualifications Education
Associate’s Degree in Construction Management or related field of study or high school diploma / GED with equivalent work experience.
Experience
1+ years of progressive experience in the construction industry.
Field experience or exposure is a plus.
Experience with Architectural AutoCAD detailer preferred.
Experience or exposure to estimating, scheduling, and/or project management technology is a plus (Quick Bid, On‑Screen Take‑Off, Project Management and blueprint collaboration software such as Blue Beam Revu, Plan Grid, etc.).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products; specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Able to operate office equipment, including personal computer, phone, fax machine, scanner and calculator for extended periods of time.
Able to access and navigate construction job sites periodically. This can include climbing stairs and/or ladders.
