Our Financial Services EY EDGE practice provides dedicated tax technical services to both US and global clients. EDGE stands for Exceptional Delivery and Growth Engine, reflecting a team that operates in a highly technical environment with deep process and service delivery experience that distinguishes EY in the marketplace.

EY's FSO EDGE State and Local Tax practice delivers comprehensive, specialized tax assistance tailored to the unique needs of our clients. You will work alongside practice office professionals who are knowledgeable and experienced across a broad range of tax areas, processes, and compliance.

Your Key Responsibilities

Deliver tax compliance and consulting work for clients.

Recognize and identify problem areas and items requiring escalation to meet client needs on time.

Work collaboratively with colleagues from different practices and share information in a highly collaborative culture.

Analyze an evolving portfolio of complex tax operations to provide meaningful business insights.

Identify potential opportunities and risks and communicate these to clients.

Research and stay current on market trends to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor.

Develop clear, intelligent plans and approaches to improve clients’ tax activities.

Research clients’ business operations and build long‑lasting relationships to tailor advice.

Work with a motivated team of professionals.

Build effective long‑term relationships with clients.

Maintain reputation by constantly updating and sharing technical and best practice knowledge.

Skills And Attributes For Success

To qualify for the role, you must have

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline, or a graduate degree in Tax or Law.

Progress toward CPA or Enrolled Agent license.

A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in professional services or a professional tax organization.

A thorough understanding of automated tax processing systems and laws within your area of technical professionalism.

Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and confidence to challenge senior colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

A commitment to continuing your learning.

Ideally, you will also have

A solid understanding of state and local partnership tax.

Proficiency in Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Experience with return preparation software.

Experience working in a variety of teams.

Ability to adapt your work style to collaborate with internal and client team members.

What We Offer You

Comprehensive compensation and benefits package rewarding performance and recognizing the value you bring. Base salary ranges: all US locations $81,900–$135,100; NYC, Washington, and CA (excluding Sacramento) $98,400–$153,600. Total Rewards include medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.

Hybrid model: most external, client‑serving roles work in person 40–60% of the time over the course of an engagement.
