Job Overview
The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects across all market sectors, including conceptual budgets and hard bid proposals. The role manages the entire pre‑construction and bidding process from project conception through award turnover. The Estimator reports directly to the President and CEO.
This role requires strong analytical skills, construction knowledge, and communication abilities to manage trades, vendors, design teams, and clients throughout the pre‑construction process.
Primary Duties
Review all bid documentation to identify risks, constructability issues, site logistics, sequencing, phasing requirements, and time constraints.
Develop bid strategies and perform trade/vendor take‑offs.
Level all trades/vendors for accuracy and scope gaps.
Prepare scopes of work and detailed estimates for conceptual and hard bid proposals.
Ensure customer proposals include alternates, allowances, qualifications, and exclusions.
Maintain compliance with bid documentation and build trade/vendor databases.
Maintain and develop cost history databases and positive trade/vendor relationships.
Execute pre‑bid and transition meetings with project management and superintendent teams.
Organize and maintain all bid documentation in company software, network folders, and hard copies.
Present proposals to clients and internal teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
2–4 years of construction estimating experience.
Strong work ethic, ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent attitude with a client‑focused approach.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
