Property Accountant
Join Pegasus Residential as a Property Accountant. Pegasus is growing and looking for a dedicated accounting professional.
Pay range: $60,000 - $70,000
We offer a hybrid office/work‑from‑home schedule, flexible start and end times, a free lunch on month‑end closes, 3 weeks PTO after 90 days, 11 paid holidays in the first year, and a solid work/life balance.
Key Responsibilities
Act as liaison between accounting department and properties; coordinate with Community Managers to record lease charges, security deposits, receipts in property management and accounting software.
Monitor cash positions and notify Controller of potential shortfalls.
Initiate and record wire transfers for interest, escrow payments, owner distributions, management fee payments, security deposit transfers, payroll and accounts payable funding.
Record journal entries for depreciation, amortization, insurance, property taxes, interest, payroll, allowance for doubtful accounts, and other miscellaneous items.
Review operational accruals for reasonableness.
Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet, security deposit, activity and calculate monthly cash true‑up; review income statement accounts for accuracy.
Prepare and review construction, renovation, bank, or replacement reserve draws for lenders; verify development invoices for proper coding.
Maintain key analytical schedules, e.g., utility cost and tenant reimbursements, and monitor unusual GL spikes or declines.
Improve accounting processes and procedures to increase accuracy and efficiency.
Prepare audit and tax workpaper files and provide supporting documentation.
Support upper management on special projects as needed.
Maintain attendance, punctuality, and compliance with Pegasus policies.
Follow established policies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and operational processes; report violations.
Education & Experience
Four‑year degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least two years of real‑estate accounting experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to multi‑task and meet deadlines without supervision.
Knowledge of GAAP.
Experience with Real Page (OneSite) preferred.

Salary: $55,000 – $75,000 per year.
