Overview
The Corporate Controller is a senior finance leader responsible for overseeing the company’s general accounting function and the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements consistent with best-in-class standards of public companies and all applicable regulations. This role also manages inventory accounting, multi-store operations, and omnichannel revenue, while leading the accounting organization, strengthening processes and controls, and supporting strategic initiatives. This role may be based out of either our Quincy, MA or Tilton, NH offices. Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & SEC Compliance: manage financial reporting to regulators, investors, banks, lenders and rating agencies; ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with applicable standards; oversee preparation of SEC filings (Form 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K) and ensure compliance. Close Process & Accounting Governance: oversee monthly close and reporting processes; analyze critical accounts; coordinate with FP&A and management discussions; maintain SOX-compliant controls and documentation. Retail Accounting & Operations: oversee accounting for inventory (valuation, reserves, markdowns, shrink, obsolescence) and revenue recognition for retail, e‑commerce, and omnichannel sales (gift cards, loyalty, returns, promotions); manage store operations, leases (ASC 842), impairment, and supply chain costs; supervise fixed assets and capital expenditures for store openings, remodels and closures. Leadership & Team Development: lead and develop the accounting organization; supervise managers and staff; build processes to support growth and increased transaction volume; promote accountability and collaboration with external/internal audit teams. Strategic & Cross-Functional Partnership: partner with FP&A on budgeting/forecasting/mango margins; collaborate with Tax and Treasury on tax provisions, cash management, and working capital; support Audit Committee reporting and Form 4 reporting with legal counsel. Qualifications
Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and regulatory requirements; strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley and COSO. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to explain complex financial information to non-technical audiences; adaptable and results-oriented. Ability to organize and direct internal and external resources to meet objectives and deadlines; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ethical, compliant leadership. Education & Experience
10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including inventory accounting and leadership roles. CPA certification; experience in public accounting and with public companies; retail experience is a plus. About Us
