Position Summary JFPBC seeks a Director of Development to manage a high‑capacity donor portfolio, strategically engaging donors and prospects across diverse segments of the community. The Director will cultivate current and new donors to drive significant Annual Campaign and Targeted Gifts results. The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging high net‑worth individuals to support the efforts of JFPBC and actively participate in The Federation’s Campaign today (Annual Campaign) and tomorrow and forever (Legacy Giving). Reporting to the Senior Development Director, the Director of Development will operate autonomously as well as collaborate with colleagues and external volunteers, aligning donor aspirations with community needs to maximize support for the Federation. The Director will assume programmatic responsibilities within specific areas, provide professional leadership to volunteer committees, and actively participate in organizational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead a tailored fundraising portfolio targeting gated community campaigns, including established donors and high net‑worth newcomers, along with potential donors and other communities to be assigned.

Pursue a robust set of frontline fundraising activities encompassing prospect and donor visits, solicitations, and successful gift closures.

Attain an in‑depth understanding of donors’ and prospects’ philanthropic inclinations, capacity, and motivations through personal and virtual meetings.

Design and execute dynamic, multi‑phase personalized strategies that leverage community leaders, culminating in the successful solicitation and closure of substantial five‑ and six‑figure gifts.

Partner with local agencies and stakeholders to engage new donors.

Build engagement committees, fundraising opportunities, programs, and events in specific communities.

Mentor fellow fundraisers, drawing from donor and prospect engagement insights to inform elevated strategies.

Provide professional leadership to committees, working closely with lay leadership to achieve fundraising and engagement goals.

Collaborate with colleagues and support all fundraising initiatives and JFPBC events.

Qualifications & Skills

5+ years experience in nonprofit fundraising or a closely related field.

Ability and desire to build relationships and work closely, comfortably, and happily with lay leaders and staff.

Varied solicitation, donor cultivation and stewardship experience.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop excellent relationships with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders.

Strong attention to detail; able to organize, prioritize and execute responsibilities as well as manage multiple projects.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, oral, and public speaking).

Strong knowledge of business technology, fundraising database skills required.

Passion for the Jewish community, Israel and familiarity with Jewish calendar and lifecycle.

Work From Home Policy Position is eligible to work from home occasionally in accordance with Federation policies. When working from home, employee must:

Follow all Federation policies and procedures.

Be available to other employees during Federation’s normal business hours.

Not work from a public place (e.g., coffee shop, library, etc.) and/or join a public, insecure wi‑fi network when working with sensitive or confidential information.

Coordinate with IT department to maintain appropriate computer equipment and connectivity.

Pay Rate In addition to benefits, the annual salary for this role starts at $90,000. We benchmark our salaries for new hires in relation to the role, level, and role location; however, we consider a multitude of factors, to include relevant experience, skills, and education/training, to determine compensation levels.
