RN Intermediate Care/Step Down Unit, 0.9 FTE, Nights
PeaceHealth is seeking an RN for a Full‑Time, 0.90 FTE Night position at the Step Down Unit. The salary range for this role is $44.34 – $80.37 per hour, depending on education, training, work experience, seniority and collective bargaining agreement.
Job Summary
Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards, promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach toward patients, families and the care delivery team.
Essential Functions
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
Document patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
Direct and delegate care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials and demonstrated competence.
Ensure own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
Participate in the development and maintenance of hospital policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Required: Degree from an Accredited School of Nursing.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Experience
Required: One year of recent (within the last 36 months) RN experience in progressive care/step down (intermediate level).
Credentials
Required: Registered Nurse.
Required: Basic Life Support upon hire.
Required: ACLS within six months of hire.
Required: NIHSS Certification within 120 days of hire.
Skills
Knowledge of age‑specific principles of growth and development and life stages.
Ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family‑centered work environment.
Ability to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures.
Basic computer skills.
Working Conditions
Lifting
Patient handling: no greater than 35 lbs. without assistive equipment.
Fine motor skills for precise procedures.
Push/Pull: up to 45 lbs.
Hands‑on CPR: 100‑125 lbs force, occasional.
Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling.
Non‑patient lifting: up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 5 lbs. frequently.
Environmental Conditions
Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
Tasks completed in noisy environment.
Mental/Visual
Vision and hearing within normal limits. Glasses, contacts and hearing aids permitted.
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
