Role Summary The Part-Time Full Charge Bookkeeper is a key contributor to HEAT’s financial integrity and operational excellence. This role is ideal for a highly organized and detail-oriented professional who can independently manage comprehensive bookkeeping functions with accuracy and efficiency. The bookkeeper will oversee all aspects of financial recordkeeping, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and support the organization’s fiscal health. This position offers flexibility while providing an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on HEAT’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and update the general ledger using accounting software such as QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.

Perform bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.

Prepare and post journal entries, including debits and credits across various accounts.

Reconcile balance sheets and conduct regular account analysis.

Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings as needed.

Generate financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable accounting standards.

Handle governmental accounting requirements for nonprofit or public entities when applicable.

Support budgeting activities and provide insights for financial planning.

Conduct double-entry bookkeeping and maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

Minimum of 8 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

Minimum of 9 years of budgeting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and accounts payable/receivable processes.

Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and Online, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel).

Extensive experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, or comparable platforms.

Solid knowledge of GAAP, governmental accounting, nonprofit accounting, and public accounting practices.

Proficiency in general ledger management, bank and account reconciliations, and journal entries.

Strong grasp of financial concepts including double-entry bookkeeping, debits and credits, and account analysis.

Demonstrated ability to perform balance sheet reconciliations and prepare accurate financial reports.

Experience with payroll processing and tax compliance (preferred).

Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with high accuracy in financial recordkeeping and data entry (including 10-key proficiency).

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and support budgeting and planning efforts.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks effectively.

Position Requirements

Clear criminal history record through the Georgia Registry.

Verification of U.S. citizenship or valid work permit.

Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.

Physical stamina to meet job demands.

Compliance with U.S. Department of Justice employment eligibility verification.
