The Opportunity We’re seeking a
Lead Control Systems Technician
to take a senior, hands‑on role in the installation, startup, commissioning, and maintenance of industrial control systems at customer sites. This role serves as a technical lead in the field, supporting complex work, guiding junior technicians when applicable, and partnering closely with engineers and project teams to ensure successful execution.
This position is ideal for experienced technicians who thrive in field environments, demonstrate strong ownership of work, and consistently deliver high‑quality results while representing Thermo professionally at client sites.
What You’ll Do
Lead and support installation, startup, and commissioning of control systems
Perform and lead instrument wiring, loop checks, calibrations, and panel work
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair PLC, HMI, and control system components
Lead and perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and onsite testing
Read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation, providing feedback from field conditions
Follow and reinforce Thermo’s Quality Management System (QMS) and safety standards
Accurately document work performed and communicate risks or issues proactively
Provide high‑quality, customer‑focused technical support at client sites
Where applicable, guide junior technicians and support technician workflow in the field
Pursue ongoing technical training, certifications, and professional development
What You Bring Education / Experience
Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–7+ years of industry or hands‑on control systems experience
3+ years as a Lead Control Systems Technician I or equivalent role
Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency with PLC and HMI startup and troubleshooting
Strong understanding of control system, electrical, and mechanical design concepts
Experience with instrumentation, panels, and field devices
Working knowledge of IT/network concepts related to control systems integration
Soft Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Effective time management and task prioritization
Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional growth
Dependable, safety‑focused, and capable of working independently
Requirements
Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the U.S.
Fit for duty at all times
Travel Required This role will require the LCST to be onsite in New Albany, OH. We will then relocate this position to Beaver Dam, WI.
On Call On‑call rotation participation may be required based on location and client needs.
Work Authorization / Other Requirements
Proof of eligibility to work in the country where the position is located is required
Maintain a valid driver’s license
Fit for duty at all times
