Position Summary
The Relationship Banker II combines expertise in customer service, sales, and operational management at an elevated skill level within the banking team. This advanced role merges the responsibilities of a teller and a personal banker, emphasizing the provision of comprehensive financial services to customers. The Relationship Banker II handles complex transactions and provides guidance to less experienced staff, while building customer relationships and promoting the bank’s services.
Duties & Responsibilities Customer Service & Relationship Management
Greet and engage customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing exceptional service to build lasting relationships.
Serve as a trusted point of contact for customers, ensuring the highest level of service is provided.
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through personalized service and proactive outreach, assisting with both routine and complex banking needs.
Provide guidance to customers on financial products and services that best meet their needs.
Sales & Cross‑Selling
Actively identify and promote all bank products and services.
Ask clients targeted questions to learn about their financial needs and goals.
Meet and exceed monthly sales and referral goals by engaging with customers to assess needs and recommend suitable banking solutions.
Proactively seek opportunities to refer customers to other lines of business such as mortgage, wealth, treasury, and commercial.
Account Management and Support
Open and manage personal and business accounts ensuring accurate and compliant setup.
Assist with account maintenance tasks, such as updating personal information, processing transfers, and check orders.
Support customers with online and mobile banking services, ensuring they understand digital tools.
Loan & Credit Processing
Process and assist with customer loan applications, including personal loans and home equity lines.
Conduct initial loan screenings, gather documentation, and collaborate with loan officers for approval.
Educate customers on loan products, eligibility requirements, and terms.
Transactions & Cash Handling
Process transactions with a high degree of accuracy.
Balance cash drawer and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and detect suspicious or potentially fraudulent activity, escalating issues as appropriate.
Adhere to privacy regulations and secure confidential customer data.
Team Support and Mentorship
Assist newer staff by sharing knowledge of bank products and operational procedures.
Create a collaborative and positive work environment through knowledge sharing and operational support.
Branch Operations & Administrative Support
Assist with daily branch tasks, including balancing cash, managing supplies, and supporting opening/closing procedures.
Support branch leadership in maintaining security and operational efficiency.
Education & Experience Knowledge Of
Strong sales and customer service skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Basic math and accounting functions
The basic tenets of lending and assessing a customer’s financial needs
Ability To
Accurately count money
Perform duties and make decisions under frequent time pressures
Stand for extended periods of time
Lift 50 pounds
Explain products and services to customers
Participate in cross‑selling with Banking Center leadership and other business lines
Education And Training
High School diploma required.
2 years of banking experience with lending responsibilities required.
1 year of prior training or a combination of mentorship, military, or management experience required.
For Relationship Bankers engaged in lending, active registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) is required. If not active at hire date, registration must be obtained immediately.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Benefits And Compensation Base Pay Range: $18−$21/hour. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.
