Position Status:

This position is to be filled as soon as possible.

Position Overview The Operations Manager will oversee and ensure high‑quality guest services are delivered in line with company standards. The role includes managing operational systems, staff training, crisis intervention, and collaborating with leadership to maintain safety, efficiency, and overall guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities and Initiatives

Ensure the quality of guest services meets company standards by managing daily operations, assigning tasks, and providing coaching and training to the team.

Coordinate and plan guest meals and menus, maintaining high‑level service with an emphasis on Harm Reduction practices.

Train all direct reports to respond to emergency situations and provide crisis intervention as required.

Ensure timely completion of incident reports and related documentation.

Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety measures, including hazard communications and evacuation procedures.

Collaborate with the Director and leadership to share operational updates and maintain budget oversight.

Conduct weekly site safety inspections and coordinate repairs when needed.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage guest care quality, census caps, room changes, and meal planning while maintaining excellent customer service.

Assist the Director in developing and maintaining staff education and training systems.

Work with shift leads to complete weekly inventory for the operations department.

Delegate tasks and special projects to foster team growth and development.

Perform additional duties as required to meet the needs of the facility and NHF.

Always follow NHF policies and procedures.

Leadership and Staff Oversight

Oversee the Operations department, including janitorial staff.

Review and approve timecards on a bi‑weekly basis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws.

Ensure all operations staff adhere to CA labor laws regarding breaks, lunch periods, and overtime.

Partner with the People and Culture department to address any HR‑related concerns.

Lead monthly GSA meetings and engage with staff through regular meetings.

Conduct annual performance appraisals and bi‑monthly one‑on‑one meetings with direct reports.

Implement corrective action plans as needed, up to and including termination.

Proactively identify and report potential safety hazards or operational inefficiencies to the Director.

Perform any additional tasks assigned to support facility operations and guest services.

Always follow NHF policies and procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree preferred.

1‑2 years of supervisory experience with demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills.

Experience with LAHSA regulations highly preferred.

Knowledge of OSHA regulations preferred but not required.

Current BLS certification strongly preferred but not required.

Prior experience in a residential treatment facility, mental health facility, substance abuse treatment center, or homeless shelter preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Ability to multitask, solve problems, meet deadlines, follow through, and manage a team in a fast‑paced environment.

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, guests, and visitors.

Physical Requirements The duties described will require frequent standing and walking, extended sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching above the shoulders, twisting, kneeling, and lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Conversational speech is necessary for effective verbal communication. Noise level is high in some guest care areas; the employee must be able to hear equipment alarms, overhead pages, and direct verbal communication.
