Staff Corporate Safety & Health Specialist – Transportation (Kansas City)

Responsibilities
Complete the planning and execution of corporate and project Safety & Health initiatives to ensure a safe, healthy, and incident‑free workplace.
Maintain compliance processes applicable to local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
Provide advice, guidance, and updates to Site Safety and Corporate management regarding Safety & Health issues and best practices.
Document and verify that project Safety & Health walk‑through assessments are completed, monitor Safety & Health requirements, and provide coaching for continuous improvement at the project site based upon Safety & Health assessment.
Document and resolve safety items that require immediate correction.
Develop and publish industry‑specific Safety & Health programs for individual Burns & McDonnell Global Practices.
Report Safety & Health compliance information regarding OSHA logs, corporate policies, incident investigation, injury case management tools, and corporate‑facilitated training.
Conduct on‑site training when required for project‑specific Safety & Health subjects and specific Safety & Health classes at the corporate office level.
Periodically visit site locations to verify that project‑specific training is compliant with contractual obligations for project personnel and subcontractors as stated in the site‑specific Safety & Health program.
Advise and support Site Safety and Corporate personnel with near‑miss, property damage, environmental incidents, and accident investigation reporting, and implement corrective measures as appropriate.
Lead communication processes with all levels of the Project Management and Corporate Safety & Health team weekly.
Quickly respond to questions and/or concerns related to Safety & Health issues.
Respond to accidents and conduct accident investigations to determine cause and recommend corrective actions.
Track and report progress to Corporate Safety & Health Management regarding the Project Safety & Health program progress.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management and 3 years of experience in a construction field environment (or applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement).
Previous experience actively working as a Site Safety & Health representative on heavy industrial projects preferred.
Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction, OSHA General Industry, ANSI, NIOSH, Engineers Manual 385‑1, and NEC Standards.
Proficient in Windows‑based platform and basic computer skills.
This position requires driving to various locations; a valid driver’s license is required.
OSHA 10‑hour Outreach Construction Course required or OSHA 30‑hour Outreach Construction Course required.

Schedule: Full‑time
