We are currently looking for a Non-Destructive Testing Supervisor to join our team in Decatur, Illinois.
Purpose of Position Reporting to the Foundry Technical Manager, the NDT Supervisor will independently perform inspections utilizing radiography to detect various defects or detrimental conditions in accordance with specific written criteria. The NDT Supervisor will perform inspections, interpret indications and report results per company requirements. The NDT Supervisor will be able to communicate processes, procedures, and results to all inquiring company personnel.
Task and Responsibilities Safety
Comply with and enforce all Nortrak safety policies and regulations.
Quality
Maintains active NDT certifications in accordance with industry and company requirements.
Calibrates and maintains dosimetry equipment and related documentation, ensuring proper usage during inspections.
Performs non‑destructive testing inspections within the scope of certification.
Interprets and documents inspection results accurately, maintaining detailed records of inspection activities.
People
Supervisor NDT Level II Radiographers and Radiography Assistants in all manners of NDT.
Provides on‑job instruction and mentorship to assistant and apprentice‑level personnel.
Offers technical guidance to other departments regarding defect identification and correction in castings.
Oversees apprentice‑level staff as needed, ensuring adherence to procedures and safety standards.
Environmental
Adhere to Nortrak's Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements (e.g., education, experience, skills and desired competencies)
High School graduate or GED preferred.
At least 3 years of radiography experience or 5 years of NDT.
Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
Computer literacy including Microsoft Office Applications.
Level II certification in Radiographic Testing (RT).
Possession of Illinois Industrial Radiographer Certification Card.
Level III and Radiography Safety Officer certifications are preferred.
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required.
Demonstrated ability to handle chemicals safely and in compliance with safety protocols.
Ability to read work orders and blueprints preferred.
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Occasional standing and walking for your scheduled shift.
Must remain stationary for extended periods and move throughout the building to access files.
Must work effectively in a noisy environment.
Ability to lift and move equipment or objects up to 20–25 pounds occasionally.
Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Occasional travel required, involving walking, standing, sitting, and driving for varying durations.
Site inspections required to identify and address safety concerns.
Frequent use of hands and arms for dialing phones and using a computer mouse.
