We’re currently growing our team of Artisans with
Variable Hour Field Quality Control . This role is responsible for managing key client projects within our Mechanical Services business and for overseeing and managing all aspects of the quality control program to ensure products, processes, and services meet established standards and customer expectations. This role ensures that all mechanical work, specifically piping and hose bolt‑up, is performed in compliance with project specifications, codes, and client requirements. Field Quality Control supports the mechanical crews during MOB, making of Process Connections, CC Assist, DMOB, and additional Maintenance Window activities by performing inspections, documenting findings, and ensuring the highest level of safety and quality in execution.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform field inspections of piping and hose bolt‑up activities to ensure proper assembly, torquing, and leak prevention.
Verify that all mechanical work complies with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications (ASME, API, etc.).
Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, tests, and corrective actions.
Build, maintain, and transmit QC packages, either specified requirements by client or internal program.
Monitor the use and calibration of torque wrenches and other bolt‑up tools.
Conduct pre‑job walk‑downs, witness pressure tests, and verify joint integrity before system turnover.
Support mechanical crews by identifying non‑conformances, providing corrective guidance, and escalating major issues to supervision.
Coordinate with site supervision, planners, and engineers to resolve quality issues efficiently.
Ensure all quality documentation (ITPs, checklists, turnover packages) is completed and submitted timely.
Always promote and enforce company and client safety and quality standards.
Participate in toolbox talks, quality meetings, and turnover discussions with clients.
Requirements Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of documented work experience within Turnaround/Shutdown/Industrial maintenance environments.
Working knowledge of piping systems, flanged joints, bolting, and hose connections.
Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI).
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and QA/QC procedures.
Strong communication skills with the ability to document findings clearly and accurately.
Commitment to safety and adherence to site‑specific safety protocols.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification(s) such as ASNT, API, CWI, or equivalent in mechanical inspection or quality control.
Training or certification in bolting and joint integrity (e.g., ECITB, ASME PCC‑1).
Experience with flange management software or electronic QC documentation systems.
Knowledge of pressure testing procedures and hydrotest documentation.
Ability to mentor and coach craft personnel on quality expectations and best practices.
Valid passport or willingness to obtain one.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands The Company requires passing a pre‑employment physical in which an objective medical professional will determine whether you can safely meet the physical demands of the position.
Duration Of Workhours During Project Executions
Typically, 12 continuous hours that may extend up to 14‑16 hours if an emergent need exists.
Day shift and/or night shift.
Working Conditions During Project Executions
Uneven or unstable ground, and wet, muddy, or slippery surfaces and footings.
Outside locations in extreme temperatures and weather conditions including wind, rain, snow, and other forms of inclement weather.
Physical Demands
Work at heights up to 150 ft (45 m) accessed via stairs, climbing ladders. This requires an ability to climb ladders and stairs without issue.
Lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
Pushing / pulling up to 100 lbs. without assistance.
Standing and walking for up to 12 to 14 hours daily with minimal rest breaks. May exceed 10,000 to 15,000 steps per day.
Bending and stooping repeatedly and performing task including twisting or turning valves and using wrenches and hand tools.
Travel Requirements Depending on region, travel requirements can vary. Ability to travel 150‑200 overnights per year to multiple North American markets to support a growing list of clients. Out of town assignments can range from 30‑45 days in length.
