Senior Control Tower Specialist, Security, Road Transport US
Location: Lancaster, TX Division: DSV Road Transport US Working Hours: Day shift - 7 on/7 off - 6:00 AM - 7:00 PM Time Type: Full Time Summary: The Senior Control Tower Specialist, Security supports the protection of freight, equipment, drivers, terminals, and yard operations within a trucking and transportation environment. This role is highly operational and field-focused, with responsibility for real-time monitoring, incident response, security audits, and reinforcement of driver security training. This position plays a key role in cargo theft prevention, trailer integrity verification, high‑value load routing support, and documentation, working closely with dispatch, driver managers, terminal teams, and external agencies to identify vulnerabilities and respond to security events across the transportation network. Key Duties & Responsibilities
Monitor freight movements, driver activity, routing, and high‑risk lanes to identify potential security threats. Support high‑value load security protocols, including seal verification, securement checks, and secure parking guidance. Conduct trailer and equipment integrity inspections, including seals and chain‑of‑custody documentation. Reinforce driver training related to cargo theft prevention, situational awareness, seal usage, securement, and safe parking practices. Provide real‑time security and routing guidance to dispatch and driver managers during elevated‑risk situations. Support the implementation and adherence to security procedures for tractors, trailers, straight trucks, and yard/drop‑lot operations. Respond to cargo theft, equipment theft, break‑ins, pilferage, and other security incidents. Collect initial incident information, including driver statements, telematics/GPS data, and supporting documentation. Prepare clear and accurate incident documentation and investigation summaries for management review. Coordinate with law enforcement, cargo theft task forces, and insurance partners as required. Track cargo theft activity, regional risk alerts, and emerging security trends. Monitor active shipments using GPS, telematics, and geofencing tools to identify route deviations or security risks. Perform routine tracking of shipments to ensure compliance with security and routing requirements. Identify security or operational exceptions, elevate issues per Control Tower protocols, and communicate risks to appropriate stakeholders. Maintain accurate, real‑time shipment and security data within the Transportation Management System (TMS). Ensure required security documentation is obtained, verified, and maintained throughout the shipment lifecycle. Enforce security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) from dispatch through delivery. Qualifications & Experience
2‑4 years of experience in trucking, transportation, logistics, or warehouse operations. Working knowledge of trucking operations, including driver workflows, dispatch processes, load securement, and trailer types (dry van, reefer, flatbed). Experience supporting or monitoring high‑value freight shipments. Proficiency with GPS tracking platforms, telematics systems, and security monitoring tools. Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with drivers, dispatch, and driver operations teams. High attention to detail and ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, real‑time environment. Experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain security. Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS). Skills & Competencies
Operational accuracy and attention to detail: Ensures shipment, security, and system information is accurate and complete. Proactive problem identification and issue resolution: Identifies potential security or operational issues early and takes appropriate action. Strong compliance and security awareness: Applies security policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements consistently. Ability to analyze data and maintain data integrity: Reviews tracking, telematics, and system data to support decisions while maintaining accurate records. Clear written and verbal communication: Communicates effectively with drivers, dispatch, and internal teams and documents incidents clearly. Sound judgment in high‑pressure situations: Makes informed, calm decisions during time‑sensitive or high‑risk situations. Physical Demands
Uses hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reaches with hands and arms; stoops, kneels or crouches; talks or hears. Uses computer and telephone equipment. Regularly lifts and/or moves objects up to 10 pounds. Must be able to travel by plane and/or automobile. Vision requirements include close vision and distance vision. Work Environment
Rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level usually low to moderate. Compensation & Benefits
Expected base pay: $60,000 – $75,000 per year.
