Location: Hybrid Jacksonville, FL Schedule: Rotating 4 days on/4 days off, 6am-6pm. Schedule will include Weekends and Holidays. Salary: $17.72 – $22.15 per hour based on experience.
What work will you perform? As a Safety and Compliance Representative, you will provide key regulatory compliance guidance and after-hours support to the BCO’s (Business Capacity Owners — Independent Owner-Operators) of Landstar. You will ensure adherence to both state and federal regulations, as well as Landstar’s policies. Your ability to remain composed under pressure and maintain a professional demeanor while assisting drivers in complex and sometimes emotional situations will be crucial to your success. Additionally, your prior experience with computer systems will be invaluable in completing the necessary data entry and reporting tasks required by the Compliance Department.
Essential Responsibilities
Monitor Operators on ELDs to ensure Hours of Service Compliance and promptly notify the department of any discrepancies.
Educate and counsel Operators, Agents, and/or Contractors on Hours-of-Service regulations and best practices for staying compliant.
Perform audits on Operators’ logs to ensure accuracy and notify the appropriate department of any discrepancies.
Create and maintain accurate compliance reports and data logs using Excel and internal systems.
Handle inbound and outbound calls, providing quality customer service.
Manage backup calls for various Safety & Compliance departments and ensure compliance in situations involving accidents and Hazmat related incidents.
Participate in notifying Operators for Random and Post Accident Drug and Alcohol Testing as required by the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration).
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
1 year experience in administrative customer support
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
6 months of Safety and/or Compliance experience in the transportation industry
6 months of experience handling inbound calls requiring a high level of urgency, composure, and confidentiality
Experience in utilizing FMCSA regulation
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to focus; prioritize, retain, and apply new concepts efficiently in dynamic, fast-paced training environments.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Ability to have difficult conversations while maintaining composure
Able to work with minimum supervision using regulatory guidelines available.
Strong communication skills in all modes
Ability to effectively counsel and educate others.
Ability to analyze and interpret data.
Strong organizational skills required.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
