Riverdale Athletics’ mission is to provide a meaningful athletic experience for every student‑athlete, maximizing participation, promoting sportsmanship, and encouraging a balanced approach to the academic and athletic commitments. Coaches are expected to embody both athletic and school values, serving as public‑facing representatives of the school. Season Schedule
Season runs from Monday, February 23rd to Monday, May 18th. Middle School practices and meets occur Monday‑Thursday; there are no activities on Fridays. Coaches must be available for the full season, including the two‑week spring break in March when there are no practices or meets. Responsibilities
Plan and deliver daily practices that include sport‑specific fundamental technique, strategies, rules, conditioning, and safety. Organize and supervise drills while executing and teaching sport‑specific techniques. Collaborate with the Assistant Coach. Stay current with rule changes and trends in your sport. Seek professional development and collaborate with fellow coaches. Compensation
Base pay range: $3,000.00 – $5,900.00 per event (once). Actual pay will be based on your skills and experience. Benefits
Transportation:
Shuttle service available to/from the 242nd St / Broadway subway station and other transit hubs. Professional Development:
Generous budget covering conferences, skill‑training, and onsite training in areas such as mindfulness, coaching, and DEIB. Grants and Stipends:
Eligible for Frankel Fellow grants (“passion grants”) and stipends for coaching, faculty affinity group facilitation, advising clubs with out‑of‑school time, and chaperoning trips. Sabbatical:
Full‑time teaching faculty become eligible after 10 years of employment. Health Benefits:
Health, dental, and vision insurance with a flexible spending account for health‑related expenses. Retirement:
Defined Contribution retirement plan through TIAA with a 7% employer contribution. Vacation:
