About the Role We’re seeking an energetic and well‑organized

Log Sales Manager/Wood buyer

to plan, organize, and control the sales of marketable sawlogs, pulpwood, and fuel chips. This hybrid role blends field and office responsibilities, giving you the autonomy to manage your territory while collaborating with a supportive team.

You will market and sell wood products, manage procurement activities, maintain business relationships with external customers, and identify and develop new market opportunities. The position includes a company vehicle, laptop, and cell phone to support your work in the field and office.

Key Responsibilities Procurement, Sales & Operational Functions

Market sawlogs, pulpwood, and biomass generated from forest management programs and log yard operations.

Evaluate wood sales opportunities and negotiate competitive pricing.

Conduct check scaling to ensure compliance with customer agreements.

Monitor supplier and customer compliance and maintain strong business relationships.

Track product performance and report key metrics.

Support tactical and long‑term procurement and sales strategies.

Collaborate with the regional wood procurement team to execute the wood supply plan.

Provide timely operational and financial reporting.

Represent the company at industry associations, workshops, and community events.

Stay informed on regional and national wood markets and share insights with the team.

Assist foresters with woodlot valuations, mill selection, and contractor training.

Wood Quality Support Functions

Perform systematic and random quality checks on sales products.

Partner with procurement and mill staff to ensure optimal merchandising and quality standards.

Accounting & Administrative Support

Support accounting processes related to wood sales.

Reconcile exception reports and manage contracts.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Wood Science, or a related field.

3–5 years of relevant experience in wood procurement, log buying, forestry, or wood sales.

Strong sales, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a team.

Proficient in Microsoft Office; SAP experience is a plus.

Valid driver’s license and ability to work safely in forested environments.

Familiarity with forest management certification schemes (e.g., SFI, FSC) preferred.
