Job Summary UGE Foreman
leads the crew to complete daily tasks related to the construction and maintenance of underground power lines, from plant/station to meter base. The foreman reads blueprints, manages production, oversees the Line team, ensures crew safety, and collaborates with personnel from other departments.
Responsibilities
Obtain necessary materials and ensure all permits and licenses are in place.
Oversee project work and assume full responsibility for quality and timeliness.
Maintain compliance with proper safety standards, procedures, and work practices.
Facilitate daily toolbox talks and weekly safety inspections.
Disseminate safety information and ensure crew understanding.
Coordinate and supervise daily digging and shaping tasks for crew members.
Perform switching procedures to isolate, insulate, splice, and terminate underground power lines following safety procedures.
Install, remove, move, and transfer various electrical devices (e.g., transformers, banks, regulators, capacitors).
Properly phase and mark/tag underground equipment.
Drive, haul, and operate equipment to assist crews in completing work.
Train new hires and trainees to learn the trade.
Call in utilities located at each project site.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Three years of experience operating heavy equipment and general construction.
Two years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Requirements
Six or more years of experience, including extensive supervisory and training experience.
Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Physical Demands and Work Environment This job operates in a field environment that routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and twisting. Work may occur in inclement weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. Required lifting ability is up to 50 pounds. Clear vision at 20 feet is required, along with precise hand‑eye coordination and color discrimination.
