Additional Information About The Role BJC is hiring for a Financial Resource I Coordinator. This will be onsite at St. Louis Children’s. Candidates will have registering duties 1/2 half of this shift. We are looking for candidates that are self‑starter, work independently, insurance background is preferred, and registration is preferred.

Role Purpose Responsible for providing financial counseling services. Collection of copays and deposits from patients. Completes an initial assessment of the patient to determine if they qualify for Medicaid assistance. Works with the patients/families to obtain the required information, documentation, signatures and negotiations. Assists patients as needed with completing forms for charity application. Follows up with patients to assure compliance. Reviews accounts for accuracy to assure maximum reimbursement for the hospital.
Responsibilities
Performs financial analysis and counseling for applicable admissions or pre‑admissions, in order to identify and address any potential problems with insurance benefits and the patient’s ability to pay. Notifies Case Management of insurance issues.
Requests payment, as applicable, before or at the time of admission due to unmet deductibles, inadequate or no insurance coverage, uncovered services, package price services or previous bad debt accounts.
Provides assistance to uninsured patients and families. Evaluates possible insurance coverage or other payment opportunities.
Documents appropriate financial information into the computer system.
Assists patients with account balance questions, itemized statement requests and resolves billing issues. Communicates in a professional, positive and respectful manner with patients. Provides consistent excellent customer service in a variety of situations and maintains effective communication with Revenue Management.
