Remote Inpatient Coding Specialist – AdventHealth
AdventHealth is seeking a Remote Inpatient Coding Specialist to support accurate coding and compliance within our inpatient services.
Responsibilities
Query physicians for clarification of discrepancies, additional diagnoses, complications, or co‑morbid conditions as needed.
Apply ICD‑10‑CM/PCS codes, MS‑DRG codes, Present on Admission codes, and patient status codes, understanding their impact on mortality rates, clinical quality, reimbursement, internal scorecards, and key performance indicators.
Utilize a thorough understanding of the Official Coding Guidelines, Coding Clinic guidance, medical necessity, and coverage determinations.
Use critical thinking and sound judgment in decision‑making, balancing reimbursement considerations with regulatory compliance.
Review encounters for proper admission source, discharge disposition, and assign the operative physician and date of procedure to the chart coding screen.
Qualifications
High School Graduate or Equivalent (Required)
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) – EV Accredited Issuing Body (Preferred)
Pay Range $21.73 – $40.42 per hour
