Electro-Optical Laser Systems Engineer (Level III) - TS clearance
Lockheed Martin is seeking an
Electro-Optical Laser Systems Engineer
to join our team in
Louisville, CO . The selected candidate will lead end‑to‑end development of advanced laser‑based optical hardware. This position requires hands‑on laboratory verification and field testing of laser systems—including wavefront control, passive and active sensing, and associated electronics—while leading trade‑off analyses, setting engineering priorities, and maintaining rigorous configuration control.
Additional Responsibilities
Own requirements creation, flow‑down, management and traceability
Define and manage system‑level interfaces
Drive and conduct design reviews
Produce clear technical artifacts such as specifications, ICDs, test plans, and interface control documents.
Desired Skills
BS (or higher) in Systems Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline
Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams through concept development, risk analysis, and/or milestone achievement
Strong project management skills (schedule development, risk registers, milestone reporting)
Strong supplier management experience: evaluating, qualifying, and interfacing with multiple vendors on structural, thermal, electrical, optical subsystems
Excellent technical communication skills (reports, presentations, design reviews) and ability to mentor junior engineers
Knowledge of adaptive optics systems for atmospheric correction and telescope integration
Experience in Class C/D, IRAD, or “go-fast” development environment
Experience identifying risks and working with the team to set priorities and stay focused on the most important objectives related to burning down the risks
Experience across full program lifecycles on large or small programs, from initial development through mission or test operations and use
Experience with Cameo or MBSE Modeling
Experience leading or interfacing with medium to large subcontracts
Experience working on space or ground ISR systems
Knowledge of NASA STD 6016, ECSS, MIL STD 1540, or similar space standards
Active TS/SCI clearance
