The FCS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2011, located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. The Foundation assists cancer patients across the state, and because partner physicians cover overhead, 100% of donations go directly to non‑medical living expenses for those battling cancer. Ideal candidates include retirees, cancer survivors, caregivers, or college students interested in oncology, nursing or medicine. Volunteers commit a minimum of 3 hours per week for at least six months. Responsibilities
Provide non‑medical support to patients in the infusion area. Offer snacks or beverages, warm blankets, and reading materials. Engage in conversation and listen to patients. Wipe down infusion chairs and keep the area clean. Assist nurses with restocking supplies. Requirements
Complete a phone interview. Pass a criminal history check and a drug/nicotine screening; nicotine or medical marijuana use is disallowed. Fulfill health screening requirements, including TB testing and immunizations for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella, or obtain an approved exemption. Receive an influenza vaccine annually between August 1 and March 31. Commitment
