The Labor Commissioner's Office (LCO) looks for individuals like you to help combat wage theft and ensure earned wages reach California workers.

Responsibilities

Conduct intake consultation assessments with the public for various LCO programs.

Evaluate claims, complaints, applications, and reports submitted by the public.

Develop and prepare documented referrals to other units and program areas.

Educate the public on labor laws and assist with claims processing.

Coordinate and lead intake workshops or clinics.

Use Spanish language proficiency when communicating with monolingual parties.

Qualifications

Fluency in Spanish; must pass an approved language fluency test if not documented.

Must be eligible for the Labor Compliance Representative (LCR) exam and submit a passing score.

Eligible through current classification, lateral transfer, reinstatement, employment list, or LEAP/Surplus status.

Complete the required Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) – no cover letter or resume will replace the SOQ.

Working Conditions The position is located at 770 E. Shaw Avenue, Fresno, CA 93710. It is a high‑volume, fast‑paced office that consistently interfaces with the public. The incumbent works primarily in an office environment using a computer, telephone, and other office equipment. May travel to assist other offices and conduct conferences.

Special Requirements

Pass an approved Spanish language fluency test before hiring if not documented.

Submit a one‑page SOQ typ‑ated, no longer than one page, responding to:

Describe a time you used your Spanish skills to assist a member of the public.

Describe the specific situation and the outcome of your assistance.
