Life as a Safety Associate The Safety Associate plays an important role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of camp health services. This seasonal, in‑person position supports the Director of Health and Safety in setting up and maintaining infirmaries, managing supplies, and assisting the nursing team throughout the summer. The Safety Associate also provides logistical and operational support, including transportation, technology setup, and inventory management, to help ensure that health services are organized and accessible to all campers and staff.

What You’ll Do

Set up infirmaries before nursing staff arrive, ensuring each location is organized and ready for the season.

Distribute and track infirmary supplies to ensure all health centers are fully equipped.

Assist with inventory management and reordering of health and safety supplies throughout the summer.

Work with the Director of Health and Safety to coordinate supplies needed for camper departure days from NYC.

Attend camper arrival and departure days at designated NYC locations, assisting with logistics and health‑related procedures.

Support nursing staff in the use of technology for check‑in, documentation, and camper care systems.

Assist with printing and organizing camper health files and related paperwork.

Transport campers to offsite medical appointments as needed, ensuring their safety and supervision.

Collaborate with the Operations team on driving, warehouse organization, and inventory support as assigned.

Prioritize camper needs when making decisions and uphold a camper‑first philosophy.

Participate actively in the camp community — including campfires, overnights, hikes, swimming, and village meetings. (Some lifting or physical activity may be required.)

Communicate, model, and uphold camp policies, traditions, and community standards.

Ensure the safety, supervision and well‑being of all campers at all times.

Demonstrate professionalism and approachability, maintaining healthy boundaries, and avoiding fraternization with general staff while on/off duty.

Serve as a role model for campers and staff by showing enthusiasm, empathy, and commitment to camp values.

Live and work in a communal camp environment — including shared cabins, limited privacy, and group dining. Time off during each session will be scheduled by the supervisor.

Care for and responsibly use camp facilities, property, and equipment.

Be familiar with and follow all emergency and safety procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the camp community.
