Job Summary The Business Development Manager will aggressively market the J.B. Hunt brand, develop new accounts, and secure an established customer base. The incumbent evaluates current transportation requirements and proposes custom solutions from J.B. Hunt’s product offerings. Accounts are typically mid-level and higher in revenue, demand, volume, and complexity.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct lead generation activities for new and incremental business, including cold calling, networking, and other opportunity prospecting methods.

Identify and secure new customer relationships through strategic, consultative selling; manage a dynamic pipeline, meet with prospects virtually and in-person to understand business needs, develop tailored solutions, and close deals.

Regularly travel to prospective customers to conduct in-person presentations and build rapport with key stakeholders.

Facilitate contract negotiations and pricing discussions while ensuring alignment with company goals and client expectations.

Stay informed of industry trends and adjust sales strategies to maintain a competitive edge.

Create and deliver compelling presentations tailored to customer needs, emphasizing articulating value propositions persuasively to decision-makers.

Coordinate with internal teams and the customer to implement the solution, including participation in kick‑off.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

2–3 years of sales, account management, or relevant experience, and/or military equivalent with at least one year of North American truckload experience.

Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.

Effective communication skills.

Establishing and maintaining trust.

Flexibility and adaptability.

Problem‑solving ability.

Knowledge of products and services.

Sales closing and agreements experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

2–3 years of sales, account management, or relevant experience, and/or military equivalent.

At least one year of North American truckload experience.

Expected starting pay range $56k–$70k.

Compensation Starting pay may be affected by skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. The position may be eligible for an annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the company’s bonus and incentive plans.

Education Bachelor’s degrees in Public Relations, Marketing, Business Communications, and Business Administration/Management, and GED (required).

Work Experience Experience as Customer Service/Account Manager or Sales.
