This role is for a Technical Sourcing Business Analyst (Coupa) with a contract length TBD, starting mid‑January, hybrid location in Stillwater, MN, and a pay rate of $53‑$66/hour. Requires 5+ years in sourcing/procurement, 2+ years with Coupa, and strong integration skills.
Location: Stillwater, MN (Hybrid)
Contract Length: TBD
Start: Mid‑January
Rate: $53‑$66/hour
About the Role We are seeking an experienced Technical Sourcing Business Analyst (Coupa) to join our Procurement & Sourcing Technology team. You will serve as the functional–technical bridge for Coupa‑driven sourcing and procure‑to‑pay solutions, owning end‑to‑end design, configuration, integrations, data quality, and testing. The ideal candidate combines deep procurement/sourcing domain knowledge with practical Coupa administration and integration experience (APIs, cXML, SFTP), ensuring scalable, compliant, and user‑friendly solutions across suppliers, categories, and business units.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Configuration (Coupa) : Lead functional and technical solution design for Coupa Sourcing, Procurement, Supplier Management (SIM/CSP), and Contracts/CLM as applicable. Perform hands‑on configuration (business rules, approval chains, commodity codes, sourcing templates, event types, RFx questionnaires, scoring models, user roles/permissions, custom fields, forms). Optimize catalogs, price lists, and contract compliance; drive policy automation (commodity‑based routing, tolerance thresholds, 3‑way match, exception handling).
Integrations & Data (ERP / Third‑Party) : Define and manage integrations between Coupa and ERP (e.g., SAP/Oracle/D365/NetSuite), HRIS, finance, risk/compliance, and supplier data sources. Design interface specifications (REST APIs, cXML for POs/invoices, SFTP file drops, OCI/punchout, JSON/XML payloads); own mapping, transformations, and error‑handling strategies. Coordinate with integration engineers on authentication (OAuth, SSO/SAML), middleware patterns, and data orchestration; maintain interface catalogs and sequence diagrams. Lead data quality and migration activities (supplier master, commodities, contracts, catalogs, UOMs, GLs, cost centers); define validation rules and reconciliation checks.
Testing, Release, and Operability : Create test strategies and scripts for unit, system, integration, and UAT; manage defect triage and traceability from requirements to test evidence. Establish non‑functional guardrails (performance, scalability, reliability) and regression packs for ongoing releases; coordinate sandbox‑to‑prod release management. Implement monitoring & controls (error queues, failed transactions, supplier onboarding workflows, audit logs); draft runbooks and support playbooks.
Reporting & Analytics : Define and validate reporting requirements for sourcing events, savings realization, supplier performance, compliance, and spend analytics. Partner with data teams to build dashboards (e.g., Power BI/Tableau) and KPIs (cycle time, adoption, event throughput, contract coverage, exception rates).
Stakeholder Engagement & Governance : Partner closely with sourcing leaders, category managers, finance, and IT to align technical delivery with sourcing strategies and compliance. Drive fit‑gap analyses, backlog grooming, and Agile ceremonies; own stories/acceptance criteria; facilitate design decisions and change management.
Mentor peers
on Coupa configuration, integration patterns, and BA best practices; contribute to standards, templates, and reusable assets.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 5+ years as a Business Analyst in sourcing/procurement or finance technology; 2+ years hands‑on with Coupa (configuration + integrations); experience across Sourcing/Procurement/SIM/CLM preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in integration concepts: REST APIs, cXML (PO/Invoice), OCI/punchout, SFTP, JSON/XML, authentication (OAuth, SSO/SAML).
Proven delivery of requirements, process modeling (BPMN), data mapping, and end‑to‑end testing for enterprise systems.
Skills: Strong stakeholder engagement and communication; ability to lead technical workstreams and decision forums; practical experience with data analysis (SQL basics) and building reporting requirements for analytics tools (Power BI/Tableau); familiarity with Agile/hybrid methodologies, backlog management, story writing, and acceptance criteria; process design skills for Source‑to‑Pay (S2P) including RFx/RFQ/RFP, events, scoring, negotiations, award, contracting, catalogs, requisitions, POs, invoicing, and supplier onboarding.
Preferred
Coupa certifications (e.g., Platform, Sourcing, Procure‑to‑Pay, CLM).
Experience integrating with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, NetSuite).
Knowledge of supplier risk/compliance, diversity reporting, and spend classification.
Exposure to middleware (MuleSoft, Boomi, SAP PO/CI) and release/change management.
Why Join Us Own technical design and delivery of enterprise‑grade Coupa solutions that materially impact sourcing performance and compliance.
