Community Outreach/Business Development Representative (Substance Use Disorder Outpatient Services)
Full Time - Remote/in the field position; meetings on site as necessary
Job Summary The Community Outreach/Business Development Representative serves as the primary ambassador between the outpatient substance use disorder treatment facility and the surrounding community. This role focuses on building referral relationships, increasing program visibility, and educating community partners about available treatment services while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and a compassionate, recovery-oriented approach.
Key Responsibilities Community Outreach & Referral Development
Develop and maintain strong relationships with referral sources, including healthcare providers, hospitals, probation/parole offices, schools, employers, shelters, and community organizations
Educate community partners on outpatient substance use disorder services, eligibility, and referral processes
Represent the facility at health fairs, community meetings, recovery events, and professional networking events
Marketing & Program Promotion
Support marketing strategies that increase awareness of outpatient SUD services
Distribute marketing materials while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and ethical standards
Assist with outreach campaigns targeting underserved or high-risk populations
Collaborate with leadership and clinical teams to ensure accurate representation of services
Community Education & Advocacy
Provide presentations and informational sessions on substance use disorder treatment, recovery resources, and harm reduction (as appropriate)
Serve as a point of contact for community questions regarding services and access to care
Promote stigma-reducing messaging and trauma-informed communication
Data Tracking & Reporting
Track referral activity, outreach efforts, and community engagement outcomes
Maintain outreach logs and contact databases
Provide regular reports on outreach effectiveness and referral trends
Qualifications Required
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Health, Social Work, or related field preferred)
Experience in healthcare marketing, community outreach, or behavioral health services
Strong interpersonal, presentation, and relationship-building skills
Understanding of confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
Preferred
Experience working with substance use disorder or mental health populations
Knowledge of local healthcare systems and community resources
Bilingual or multilingual skills
Lived experience or recovery-informed perspective (where appropriate and compliant with organizational policy)
