Key Responsibilities
Perform due diligence underwriting for Jumbo and Non‑Agency mortgage loans.
Analyze underwriting for completeness, compliance guidelines, and approved seller variances.
Maintain strong attention to detail when using manual underwriting.
Manage loan conditions from credit, property, and compliance reviews with sellers and external 3rd‑party due diligence providers.
Evaluate and recommend underwriting waivers and eligibility exceptions.
Communicate compensating factors verbally and in writing to justify exceptions.
Maintain knowledge of mortgage compliance rules, agency underwriting guidelines, appraisal and regulatory standards.
Participate in evaluating current loan review processes and provide feedback to increase efficiency and risk management.
Review third‑party services (valuation, fraud, compliance) to offer input for loan decisions.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
5+ years of mortgage industry experience.
5+ years of jumbo and Non‑Agency underwriting with complex income analysis.
Expert underwriting knowledge and extensive experience with loan origination documentation.
Technology savvy, able to work in varied systems.
Proficiency with automated underwriting engines, electronic document management, and other systems.
High attention to detail and effective problem‑solving skills.
Excellent client service skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent multitasking skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Analytical thinking, diplomacy, and professionalism.
