Network Administrator 2 - Annapolis Junction, MD with Security Clearance
We are seeking a Network Administrator 2 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. This role involves design, implementation, operations, and maintenance of large complex, resilient hardware and virtualized infrastructure to ensure solutions meet stakeholder needs, standards, and performance requirements.
Responsibilities
Support the day‑to‑day planning, installation, configuration, testing, operation, analysis, and documentation of complex networks.
Establish and maintain user accounts, user access privileges, and security policies.
Perform scheduled network status checks, troubleshoot, and resolve problems.
Plan and implement high‑ and low‑speed LAN connections and designs.
Plan and implement VPN solutions, including site‑to‑site VPNs built between hardware firewalls.
Manage hardware firmware revisions, including testing latest firmware on current configurations and deploying when appropriate.
Configure common network equipment and document configurations and settings.
Collaborate with Security System Technicians on connectivity requirements and procedures.
Integrate new technologies into existing high‑ and low‑speed networks.
Audit network component hardware and software changes.
Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, latency) and test for weaknesses.
Install and troubleshoot enterprise‑class network equipment (firewalls, routers, switches).
Install and troubleshoot fiber cross‑connects to existing backbone cabling.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of progressive experience or Associate’s Degree and 6+ years of progressive experience or High School diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of progressive experience.
Experience implementing network technologies, routing protocols, switching technologies, LAN/WAN media and protocols, and firewall configuration and protocols.
Experience in end‑user support and integration of new technologies into existing networks.
Familiarity with Information Assurance concepts and requirements.
Current certification: CCNA or CompTIA Network+.
DoD 8570 compliance at IAT Level II or higher.
Strong communication, time‑management, and organization skills.
Experience working independently and with multidisciplinary teams.
Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.
Travel: up to 25% annual, CONUS and OCONUS locations.
Security Clearance Applicants must be eligible for a government security investigation and meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship. Active DoD TS/SCI with polygraph clearance is required.
