Pay Range Base pay range: $62,868.00 per year – $72,298.00 per year.

Your Team The Division of Budget and Program Operations (BPO) supports the Division of Housing Opportunity, Division of Tenant and Owner Resources, Division of Housing Stability, and Division of Policy and Program Innovation. BPO assists with budgeting, procurement, and technology initiatives across the Office, and coordinates Housing Quality Enforcement and related inspection functions.

Your Impact As an HQE Inspector in BPO, you will conduct Housing Quality Standard inspections of public housing units converting to project‑based assistance. You will perform Vacant, Initial, and Biennial inspections using NYCHA’s electronic handheld equipment.

Your Role

Perform inspections independently, assessing dwelling condition.

Attempt to complete 25 inspections per day, when scheduled in a single development or neighborhood.

Collect all inspection data and enter it into the Elite Database System.

Carry necessary equipment for inspections.

Communicate any issues to supervisor clearly.

May perform inspections in a team when necessary.

Preferred Skills

Computer knowledge.

Interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of rental subsidies or Section 8 subsidy preferred.

Knowledge of housing structures and housekeeping standards preferred.

Bilingual a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of community‑related experience.

High school graduate or equivalent with six years of community‑related experience.

Equivalent education and experience for either option; required to have at least one year of experience as specified in option 1.

Residency Requirement New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. Employees who have worked for the City for two continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
