Description

The Manager of Philanthropy plays a key role in supporting Kentucky Science Center’s fundraising efforts by managing and growing Tier 2 donor relationships and executing core annual giving initiatives. This position focuses on donor cultivation, stewardship, appeals, and fundraising logistics that strengthen the donor pipeline and support long-term philanthropic growth.

The Manager of Philanthropy works collaboratively with and reports directly to the Director of Philanthropy, partnering to execute fundraising campaigns, manage donor communications, and ensure accurate tracking and reporting of fundraising activity. This role does not include direct supervision of staff.

Key Responsibilities Tier 2 Donor Management ($999 and below)

Manage a portfolio of Tier 2 donors

Follow the Donor Cycle to increase giving: attract new donors, retention of current donors, gain new donors

Implement stewardship strategies including acknowledgements, impact communications, and engagement touchpoints

Annual Fund Support and execute fundraising campaigns including:

Direct Mail Appeals

Direct solicitations

Coordinate timelines, logistics, and donor communications

Donor Engagement & Requests

Support AFE (Annual Fund Event) logistics and donor-related activities

Assist with gift suggestions and donor giving opportunities aligned with organizational priorities

Data, Reporting & Systems

Serve as the subject matter expert for Raiser’s Edge, ensuring accurate system use and adherence to data standards and best practices

Provide functional oversight and guidance for Raiser’s Edge data entry performed by the Executive Assistant, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of donor records

Utilize Raiser’s Edge for donor tracking, reporting, and data analysis to create queries and lists to support fundraising efforts

Maintain data integrity, run routine and ad hoc reports, and support analytics related to donor activity, appeal performance, and giving trends

Partner with the Director of Philanthropy to interpret data and inform fundraising strategies and decision-making

Collaboration & Communications

Coordinate closely with the Marketing team to align messaging, branding, and donor outreach

Support stewardship communications including emails, letters, and donor updates

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure fundraising efforts align with institutional goals

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or philanthropy

Experience supporting annual giving, donor stewardship, or appeals

Strong working knowledge of donor databases (Raiser’s Edge preferred)

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Collaborative, relationship-oriented, and emotionally intelligent

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, in a fast-paced evolving environment

Compensation and Benefits

$45,000-$50,000 annually
