Job Description POSITION SUMMARY : Under general supervision from the Human Resources Manager, the Senior Human Resources Generalist (Sr. HRG) provides comprehensive administrative support for the day-to-day operations of human resources functions and duties. The Sr. HRG carries out responsibilities in HRIS, employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organization development, and employment across assigned sites or programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides full-cycle Human Resources support to supervisors and all NVIH staff on tactical topics such as policy interpretation, requests for information, employee engagement, performance management, and coaching and counseling.
Supports HR team in subject‑matter areas including leaf of absence (LOA), workplace investigations, complex ADA Reasonable Accommodation requests, and performance management metric development.
Manages the LOA process, coordinates with third‑party administrators, explains leave benefits to employees, and communicates return‑to‑work status with payroll and supervisors.
Engages in the Interactive Process for ADA Reasonable Accommodation requests and supports HRGs with complex cases.
Supports Talent Acquisition on requisitions for the assigned business unit, from opening to offer, following appropriate processes.
Leads and conducts workplace investigations, providing recommendations to HR Leadership for approval and generating conclusion reports.
Coaches and mentors supervisors on policy interpretation and HR best practices to reduce risk to the agency.
Collaborates with HR Leadership on employee matters affecting business units, ensuring continuity of service.
Supports new hire orientations and onboarding in coordination with other HRG staff and hiring managers.
Assists the HR Department with various projects, meeting deadlines and managing assigned areas of HR or HR Program.
Provides solution‑based feedback to HR Leadership on items requiring escalation or improvement.
Delivers support to internal and external customers, ensuring thorough communication and follow‑through.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Human Resources, Business, or Healthcare Administration.
HR Certification preferred.
Minimum of three years of related HR experience in a Generalist or Business Partner role.
Demonstrates exceptional confidentiality and supports stakeholders with tact, diplomacy, and NVIH Core Values.
Advanced understanding of HR functions and HR reporting/record–keeping requirements.
Extensive knowledge in one or more HR functional areas, acting as a subject‑matter expert.
Skilled at coaching and training colleagues.
Capable of diffusing conflict and offering effective solutions for Employee Relations matters.
Critical thinker, communicating complex problems and escalating as appropriate.
Proficient in related computer applications, including MS Office.
Excellent multitasking and prioritization skills.
Strong attention to detail and organization.
Excellent communication and public speaking abilities.
Customer‑service orientation, anticipating needs and ensuring satisfaction.
Self‑motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Reliable transportation and regular attendance required.
