It includes 28 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 5 college and career academies/high schools, and is the fifth largest district in Kansas. Our student population is about 56% Hispanic, 24% African American, 9% White, and 6% Asian. The district employs about 4,000 staff, including more than 1,800 teachers.
Job Goal The Cafeteria Monitor supervises students during breakfast and lunch, enforcing responsible behavior in the lunchroom. To accomplish these tasks the Cafeteria Monitor works closely with staff and administration of the District.
Essential Functions
Supervise breakfast and lunch periods to ensure appropriate and responsible behavior.
Ensure all activities conform to District guidelines.
Communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community.
React to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting deadlines as assigned.
Work to implement the vision and mission of the District.
Encourage responsible behavior.
Observe and follow all school district policies at all times.
Respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner.
Implement and follow all District health and safety policies, including precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Communication / Organization Maintains communication with school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the needs of students.
Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Language Skills Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents, students, and the general public.
Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand, and talk or hear, and may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds or push items of this weight. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
Work Environment The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, but acceptable for this environment. Physical demands and safety requirements are described above.
Other Skills and Abilities Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
Employment Type Part-time – When school is in session.
Salary Classified Salary Schedule.
